A team kit or club shop

A team or club shop uses PrintBlob so the team's shirts come from the club's design: the crest on the front, each player's name and number on the back, each in their own size. With PrintBlob Pro's names and numbers, the team lists every player on one design, the list goes into the cart as one item per size, and every line gets its own print file, so nothing is retyped. With the free plugin, each person's shirt is its own cart line, with the name under the crest on the front.

Who is this for?

Clubs selling their own kit, teams ordering for a season, and print shops running a webshop for local clubs. Every order shares a design but differs in name, number and size, and a misspelt name is a reprint.

What matters in PrintBlob?

  • The back, and the sleeves (PrintBlob Pro). Names and numbers belong on the back and sponsors on a sleeve. Each side has its own print area, print price and print file. With the free plugin, names go under the crest on the front.
  • A list of names and numbers (PrintBlob Pro). You set the side, font, colour, place and height of the name and of the number once on the product; every player’s line prints at them, and each line gets its own print file.
  • Text typed on the shirt. New text is centred, bold and in an ink that stands out on the shirt’s colour; the member sees their name at its real size against the print area. A number’s height can be judged against the print size shown under the shirt.
  • Club colours from one photo. Each colour is a term of your colour attribute with its colour value; the white shirt photo is recoloured to it.
  • The club’s typeface (PrintBlob Pro). Upload it to WordPress’s Font Library and offer it in the designer.
  • The club’s crest ready (PrintBlob Pro). Make the club’s design once as a design template, crest in place, and members start from it.
  • One line per person with the free plugin. PrintBlob saves one design per cart item, so each shirt reaches the order with its own preview.

What are the limits?

Without PrintBlob Pro’s design templates there is no ready-made design with the crest already placed: the first person uploads it, and members ordering on their own upload it themselves, so send it with the link. There is no spreadsheet import and no curved or outlined text, and a list prints every name and number in the one font, colour and place you set. With the free plugin, by default one shopper can save 30 designs an hour (300 from one internet address); a developer can raise that with the printblob_design_save_limits filter for clubs that order in one go, and with names and numbers a whole list is one design. PrintBlob Pro’s quantity breaks lower each side’s price from the quantities you set; without them, a discount for the club needs a pricing plugin or a coupon.

How do I try it?

Open the dark shirt demo: a name and number on navy. Change the name and the size as each player would. The guide team orders with names and numbers goes through the whole set-up.

How does a team order go through PrintBlob?

  1. Set up the club's shirt. A variable product in the club's colours and the sizes you stock, with the designer on and a print price for each printed side; with PrintBlob Pro, turn on Names and numbers and choose the side, font, colour, place and height of the name and of the number.
  2. Start from the club's design. The crest on the front, from a design template you made with it in PrintBlob Pro, or uploaded by whoever orders.
  3. List the players. Under Names and numbers, a line per player with their name, number and size; Show on the product draws any line on the shirt. Then Add to cart.
  4. The order lists every player. One item per size, as many as its lines, each line with its name, number and print file, beside the design's print file of each side.
  5. Print player by player. Download order (ZIP) gives every file named with its order item, and a print list that says which line each file is.

Try it in the live demo

A name and number on a dark shirt. A navy shirt with a team name and number typed on it. Text is added in an ink that stands out on the colour chosen, and text the customer has not given a colour of their own switches between dark and white ink when the shirt colour changes.

Questions

Can one person order for the whole team?

Yes. With PrintBlob Pro's names and numbers they list every player on one design, up to 100 lines, and add the list to the cart at once. With the free plugin they change the name, number and size before each Add to cart, and the cart holds one line per shirt; the guide on team orders explains the save limits for a large team.

Can PrintBlob import a list of names?

Not from a spreadsheet. With PrintBlob Pro's names and numbers, the list is typed into the designer, a name, a number and a size per line, and each line can be seen on the shirt before ordering.
