Honest comparison: PrintBlob vs Fancy Product Designer

Fancy Product Designer is a long-established self-hosted designer for almost any product, with PDF, SVG, JPEG and PNG export and pricing by layer, but its CodeCanyon page says it is now in maintenance-only status with no new versions and no support from its author, while PrintBlob is a WooCommerce designer in active development, free on WordPress.org, whose Pro add-on ($69 a year or $99 once (limited-time offer until 31 December 2026)) adds PNG, PDF and SVG print files, back and sleeve printing and a 3D view.

Where is Fancy Product Designer stronger?

  • Any product. Its pages show t-shirts and caps, business cards and greeting cards, phone cases, neon signs, mugs and engraved products, each with as many views as it needs, exported to PDF, SVG, JPEG or PNG.
  • Flexible prices. A price for each layer, element type or view, so a shop can charge for a material, a colour or a print on the back.
  • Outside WooCommerce. It runs on any WordPress page by shortcode, can feed a Gravity Forms form, and has a Shopify app.
  • A long record. Over 23,000 sales on CodeCanyon since its first release there, with 819 reviews averaging 4.46 out of 5.

Where is PrintBlob stronger?

  • It is being developed. PrintBlob ships new versions through WordPress.org and printblob.com; Fancy Product Designer’s CodeCanyon page says no new versions will be released there.
  • A free plugin you can run for real. PrintBlob on WordPress.org takes front-printed t-shirt orders in every colour you sell and keeps each order’s design, with no time limit and nothing locked.
  • Support you can reach. Community support in the WordPress.org forum for the free plugin, and priority email support with PrintBlob Pro.
  • Made for today’s WordPress. The most modern product designer for WooCommerce: built in 2026 for WordPress 7, block-theme native, 3D from your own photos, and no monthly or per-sale fees.
  • Every colour from one photo, and a 3D view. PrintBlob recolours one white product photo to every colour you sell, keeping the folds, and PrintBlob Pro turns the front and back photos into a 3D view.

What does PrintBlob not do that Fancy Product Designer does?

PrintBlob is not made for paper products such as business cards, has no prices by layer and no JPEG files, and works only in WooCommerce. If you sell paper products or price by layer, look at the alternatives.

Which should I choose?

  • Choose Fancy Product Designer if you sell paper products or many product types, price by layer, and are happy to run a plugin that will not get new versions on CodeCanyon.
  • Choose PrintBlob if you print garments, want a designer that keeps up with WordPress and WooCommerce, and want to start free and add PrintBlob Pro when you need print files, more sides and your own products.

  1. Install PrintBlob free. In your shop, open Plugins › Add Plugin, search for PrintBlob, then Install Now and Activate. It can run beside another designer while you compare.
  2. Turn the designer on for one t-shirt. Edit a product, tick Designer in Product data › PrintBlob designer, and set the front's print price.
  3. Place a test order. Design on the product page, add it to the cart and order it. The order screen shows the design, its preview and the images you used.

Set it up

  • PrintBlob Pro

PrintBlob Pro adds print-ready files of every order (a 300 DPI PNG, a vector PDF and SVG, and a CMYK PDF through your printer's profile) with the customers' original images, your own products and photos, back and sleeve printing, a 3D view, design templates, a clipart library, quantity breaks, names and numbers for team orders, a print queue with ZIP downloads, and your own fonts.

  • Print-ready t-shirt files: format, transparency and resolution

What makes a t-shirt print file ready to print: a transparent PNG at 300 DPI at the printed size, or a vector file where the method takes one. Why customer photos print blurry, why backgrounds print as boxes, and what DTG, DTF, screen printing, vinyl and embroidery each need from you.

Questions

Is Fancy Product Designer still updated?

Its CodeCanyon page, read on 20 October 2026, says it is now in maintenance-only status: no further feature updates or new versions will be released on CodeCanyon, the item stays fully functional as it is, and its author does not support it there. Its last update there was on 9 June 2026.

Is PrintBlob a Fancy Product Designer alternative?

For a WooCommerce shop that prints garments, yes: PrintBlob is free on WordPress.org and in active development, and PrintBlob Pro adds your own products, more sides and print files in PNG, PDF and SVG. For paper products, Lumise or a hosted service such as Zakeke is closer to what Fancy Product Designer does.

How much does Fancy Product Designer cost?

Its own pricing page lists $99 per licence, one licence per website, and links to CodeCanyon, where the Regular License was $19 and the Extended License $999 on 20 October 2026. A Shopify app is offered separately, free to try for 14 days.

Which one makes better print files?

It depends on the print method. Fancy Product Designer exports PDF, SVG, JPEG and PNG, which suits screen printing, cutting and paper products. PrintBlob Pro makes, for each printed side at the print area's exact size, a transparent PNG at 300 DPI, which DTG and DTF printers work from, and a vector PDF and an SVG for screen printing and cutting, with a CMYK PDF through your printer's ICC profile if you upload one. It makes no JPEG and adds no bleed or crop marks.

Can I use PrintBlob for products other than t-shirts?

Yes, with PrintBlob Pro: you add your own products, such as mugs, hoodies and bags, on your own photos, with the print areas drawn on them. The free plugin designs on its bundled t-shirt.
