WooCommerce product designer plugins compared
Three ways to let customers design products in a WooCommerce shop: self-hosted designer plugins, hosted customizer services, and print-on-demand integrations. What each costs, where designs are processed, and what you get back.

WooCommerce product designers come in three kinds: self-hosted plugins that run in your shop for a one-off or yearly price, hosted customizer services paid monthly and often per item sold, and print-on-demand integrations that print and ship each order for you.
“Product designer for WooCommerce” covers these three quite different kinds of tool. Which one fits depends less on features than on two questions: who prints (you, or a print-on-demand company), and where the designing happens (on your own site, or on a service you pay monthly). This page compares the main options by kind. Prices are as listed on each vendor’s own pages on 9 October 2026; check them before you buy, since they change.
We make PrintBlob, one of the plugins below. We have tried to describe the others only by what their own pages say, and we link to those pages.
Self-hosted designer plugins
A plugin you install in WordPress. The designer runs in your shop, designs and print files are stored on your server, and you print the orders yourself or send the files to a printer. You pay once or yearly, not per order.
| Price as listed | Print files | Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fancy Product Designer | $99 per licence on its own site; $19 regular licence on CodeCanyon | PDF, SVG, JPEG, PNG | Long-established: over 23,000 sales on CodeCanyon, rated 4.46. Its CodeCanyon page says it is now in maintenance-only status (read 20 October 2026). |
| Lumise | $69 a year (Classic) on lumise.com; $99 regular licence on CodeCanyon | PDF, SVG, PNG; print-ready at 300 DPI per its site | Over 13,500 sales on CodeCanyon, rated 4.79. Paid add-ons include a Printful integration. Needs Imagick on the server. |
| PrintBlob | Free (GPL); Pro $69 a year or $99 once (limited-time offer until 31 December 2026) | Pro: per printed side, a transparent PNG at 300 DPI, a vector PDF and an SVG at the exact print size, and a CMYK PDF through your printer’s ICC profile; for earlier orders too | A t-shirt recoloured to every colour; block-theme native. Pro: your own products and photos, back and sleeve printing, a 3D preview from the front and back photos, design templates, a clipart library, print queue, custom fonts and Google Fonts. |
Fancy Product Designer vs Lumise sets the two side by side.
Free designer plugins on WordPress.org exist, but the ones we found had a few hundred active installs at most, and some had not been updated in years; check the “last updated” and “tested up to” lines before relying on one.
Hosted customizer services
A service that runs the designer on its own servers and connects to WooCommerce with a plugin. You get a polished designer, often with 3D or AR, and the vendor handles the heavy processing; you pay monthly, often plus a fee per customised item sold.
| Price as listed | Notes | |
|---|---|---|
| Zakeke | From $59 a month (Starter, 10 products, plus a 1.9% fee per sale), up to $255 a month (Scale, 100 products, 1.5%) | 3D configurator and AR. Storage on its cloud by plan. A free WooCommerce connector on WordPress.org. |
| Customily | $49 a month per platform, plus a fee per item from $1 (first 100 items), falling with volume | Personalisation with ready-to-print exports. |
| Kickflip | $59 a month plus up to 1.95% per custom product sold | Product customizer with unlimited products and storage; white-label and quotes as paid extras. |
Per-sale fees matter as you grow: at 1.9%, a shop selling $10,000 a month of custom products pays about $190 a month on top of the plan. Zakeke vs Customily and Zakeke vs Kickflip compare these services two at a time.
Print-on-demand integrations
Printful and Printify are not designers in your shop: you design products in their tools, they list them in WooCommerce, and they print and ship each order. The plugins are free; you pay per order for the blank, the print and fulfilment, and both offer paid plans (Printful Growth $24.99 a month, Printify Premium from $24.99 a month billed yearly).
This suits shops that sell their own designs without holding stock or printing. It doesn’t give customers a designer to make their own print on your product page, and you can’t print the orders yourself.
Which kind fits
- You print, or work with a local printer, and want customers to design: a self-hosted plugin. No per-order fees; designs stay on your site. Pick by print-file format: PDF or SVG output matters for screen printing and cutting; a 300 DPI PNG at the print size is what DTG and DTF printers work from.
- You want a 3D configurator for many product types and don’t mind a monthly bill: a hosted service, if the per-sale fees still work at your volume.
- You sell your own designs and don’t want to print or ship: a print-on-demand integration.
Where PrintBlob fits
PrintBlob is a self-hosted designer made for shops that print, most of all t-shirts and similar garments. Customers design on the front of a t-shirt in every colour (and, with Pro, on your own products and photos, on the back and the sleeves, and in 3D); every order keeps its design, and with Pro carries, per printed side, a transparent 300 DPI PNG, a vector PDF and an SVG at the exact print size, and a CMYK PDF through your printer’s ICC profile if you upload one. It doesn’t offer Pantone or spot colours, DXF files, bleed or crop marks, or print-on-demand fulfilment, so if you need those, the tools above are worth a look.
For PrintBlob beside one tool at a time, with where each is stronger, see PrintBlob vs Zakeke, PrintBlob vs Fancy Product Designer and the alternatives. Shops leaving a print-shop platform can read InkSoft, DecoNetwork and OnPrintShop alternatives, and every comparison is listed in one place. How a print shop uses PrintBlob is in a print shop taking custom orders online.
Questions shop owners ask
What kinds of product designer are there for WooCommerce?
Three: self-hosted designer plugins, which run in your shop for a one-off or yearly price; hosted customizer services, paid monthly and often per item sold; and print-on-demand integrations, where a print company lists your own designs in WooCommerce, prints them and ships each order.
Which kind suits a shop that prints its own orders?
A self-hosted plugin: no fees per order, and designs stay on your site. Choose one by its print files: PDF or SVG output matters for screen printing and cutting, and a 300 DPI PNG at the print size is what DTG and DTF printers work from.
Do Printful and Printify give customers a designer?
No. You design products in their tools, they list them in WooCommerce, and they print and ship each order. They suit shops that sell their own designs without printing; customers get no designer on your product page, and you cannot print the orders yourself.
What does PrintBlob not do?
It has no print-on-demand fulfilment, no Pantone or spot colours, no DXF files and no bleed or crop marks. Customers design on the front of a t-shirt in every colour; with PrintBlob Pro also on your own products and photos, on the back and the sleeves, and in 3D, from templates and a clipart library you fill, and every order carries, per printed side, a transparent 300 DPI PNG, a vector PDF and an SVG at the exact print size.
What does PrintBlob cost?
The plugin is free. PrintBlob Pro is $69 a year or $99 once, for one domain.
