Which self-hosted plugin fits?

A plugin runs the designer in your own WordPress: designs and print files stay on your server, and you pay once or yearly, not per order.

  • PrintBlob is made for shops that print garments. The free plugin designs on the front of its bundled t-shirt, recoloured to every colour you sell; PrintBlob Pro adds your own products and photos, the back and the sleeves, a 3D view, custom fonts, design templates, a clipart library of your own art, a print queue, and per printed side a transparent PNG at 300 DPI, a vector PDF and an SVG at the print area’s exact size, with a CMYK PDF through your printer’s ICC profile. It is the most modern product designer for WooCommerce: built in 2026 for WordPress 7, block-theme native, 3D from your own photos, and no monthly or per-sale fees.
  • Fancy Product Designer covers almost any product, from t-shirts to business cards and neon signs, exports PDF, SVG, JPEG and PNG, and prices by layer or view. Its CodeCanyon page says it is in maintenance-only status: no new versions there, and no support from its author. See PrintBlob vs Fancy Product Designer.
  • Lumise sells a designer with templates and print-ready files at 300 DPI, with paid add-ons such as a Printful integration. Its product listing names WordPress 6.9.x and WooCommerce 9.x.
  • Custom Product Builder for WooCommerce is free on WordPress.org, with a drag-and-drop designer and a live preview in the free version; unlimited customisable products, customers’ image uploads, advanced text and downloadable design files are in its Pro version.

Which hosted service fits?

A hosted service runs the designer on its own servers and connects to WooCommerce with a plugin. You get more features, often 3D, AR and templates, and you pay monthly plus a fee on each sale, so the cost grows with your sales.

  • Zakeke has the widest set: 3D configurators, AR and try-on, templates, PDF, DXF and engraving files, CMYK and Pantone colour, and print-on-demand connections. See PrintBlob vs Zakeke.
  • Customily is built for personalised products, with unlimited ready-to-print exports and a fee per item that falls as you sell more.
  • Kickflip is a product customiser with unlimited products, page views and storage, for WooCommerce, Shopify and Wix.

When is print-on-demand the better fit?

Printful and Printify are not designers on your product page: you design products in their tools, they list them in WooCommerce, and they print and ship each order. They suit a shop selling its own designs without stock or a printer. They do not let customers design their own print, and you cannot print the orders yourself.

Where does PrintBlob fall short?

PrintBlob has no AR or 3D configurator, no Pantone colour, no DXF or other engraving files, no print-on-demand connection, and it runs only in WooCommerce; if you need any of those, one of the tools above is the better choice. The free plugin designs on the front of its bundled t-shirt; your own products, more sides, templates, clipart, quantity breaks and the print files are in PrintBlob Pro. The guide WooCommerce product designer plugins compared explains the three kinds of tool in more depth.

How do I choose a product designer for my shop?

  1. Decide who prints. If you or a local printer print the orders, you need a designer and print files; if you want someone else to print and ship, look at print-on-demand.
  2. Name the file your printer needs. DTG and DTF printers work from a PNG at 300 DPI at the print size; screen printing, cutting and paper printing usually need PDF or SVG.
  3. Work out the cost at your volume. Add a year of the plan to the fee on each sale at the sales you expect, and compare it with a one-off or yearly licence.
  4. Try two on the same product. Set up the same t-shirt in two tools, place a test order in each, and compare the designer, the order and the file.

Set it up

  • Installation

PrintBlob needs WordPress 7.0, WooCommerce 10.0 and PHP 7.4 or newer. Install the free plugin from the WordPress.org directory or as a zip, set up your first product, then add PrintBlob Pro when you need it.

  • Products

To sell a product with the designer, open the product's PrintBlob designer tab, turn the designer on, choose its mockup and set a print price for each printed side.

  • PrintBlob Pro

PrintBlob Pro adds print-ready files of every order (a 300 DPI PNG, a vector PDF and SVG, and a CMYK PDF through your printer's profile) with the customers' original images, your own products and photos, back and sleeve printing, a 3D view, design templates, a clipart library, quantity breaks, names and numbers for team orders, a print queue with ZIP downloads, and your own fonts.

  • WooCommerce product designer plugins compared

Three ways to let customers design products in a WooCommerce shop: self-hosted designer plugins, hosted customizer services, and print-on-demand integrations. What each costs, where designs are processed, and what you get back.

  • Print-ready t-shirt files: format, transparency and resolution

What makes a t-shirt print file ready to print: a transparent PNG at 300 DPI at the printed size, or a vector file where the method takes one. Why customer photos print blurry, why backgrounds print as boxes, and what DTG, DTF, screen printing, vinyl and embroidery each need from you.

  • DTF vs DTG vs screen printing for a small print shop

How DTF, DTG and screen printing work, the file each one needs, where their costs and minimums come from, and which suits one-off designs that customers make in an online shop.

Questions

What are the alternatives to Zakeke?

For a WooCommerce shop: a self-hosted plugin such as PrintBlob, Lumise or Fancy Product Designer, with no monthly plan and no fee per sale, or another hosted service such as Customily ($49 a month per platform plus a fee per item) or Kickflip ($59 a month plus up to 1.95% of sales). Zakeke stays the stronger choice for 3D configurators, AR, engraving files and Pantone colour.

What are the alternatives to Fancy Product Designer?

Fancy Product Designer's CodeCanyon page says it is now in maintenance-only status, so shops look for a designer that is still developed: PrintBlob for garments, with a free plugin on WordPress.org; Lumise, with templates and 300 DPI print files at $69 a year; or a hosted service such as Zakeke if 3D, AR and engraving files matter more than fees.

How do Fancy Product Designer and Lumise compare?

Both are self-hosted plugins sold outside WordPress.org with no fee per sale. Fancy Product Designer lists $99 per licence on its own site and exports PDF, SVG, JPEG and PNG, but is in maintenance-only status on CodeCanyon; Lumise is $69 a year for updates and support, keeps working if you stop renewing, and makes print-ready files at 300 DPI.

How do Zakeke and Customily compare?

Both are hosted services with a monthly plan and a fee on each sale. Zakeke starts at $59 a month billed yearly plus 1.9% of each customised product sold, with up to 10 products on Starter, and adds 3D, AR and PDF or CMYK files; Customily is $49 a month per platform plus $1 per personalised item, falling to $0.10 at volume.

Is there a free WooCommerce product designer?

Yes. PrintBlob is free on WordPress.org and takes front-printed t-shirt orders in every colour you sell, with each order's design kept. Custom Product Builder for WooCommerce also has a free version there, with customers' image uploads in its Pro version. Zakeke's plugin is free, but the service it connects to is paid.

Which product designers charge a fee on each sale?

The hosted services read on 20 October 2026: Zakeke charges 1.5% to 1.9% of each customised product sold by plan, Kickflip up to 1.95%, and Customily from $1 down to $0.10 per personalised item. PrintBlob, Fancy Product Designer and Lumise charge no fee per sale.

What does PrintBlob not do?

PrintBlob has no AR or 3D configurator, no Pantone colour, no DXF or other engraving files, no print-on-demand connection, and it runs only in WooCommerce. The free plugin designs on the front of its bundled t-shirt; your own products, more sides, templates, clipart, quantity breaks and print files are PrintBlob Pro.

Are Printful and Printify product designers?

Not in your shop. You design products in their tools, they list them in WooCommerce, and they print and ship each order. They suit shops selling their own designs without stock, not shops whose customers design their own print.
